3/10/2024 0 Comments Text reflowing on screen zoomAs a result, I only need to move my mouse pointer up and down to view other parts of the page. Resizing the browser to 640 pixels wide means I can see the left and right sides of a web page at any one time. For instance, a 200% magnification on my 1280-pixel wide laptop halves my view into 640 pixels. When a website supports reflow, I can set the size of my browser window to match the size of my screen magnification. Departure and Returning fields are overflowing on the horizontal axis and Passenger fields are overflowing on the vertical axis. Screenshot of an airline web page that does not support reflow and content overflows in two dimensions. Sometimes I miss content entirely, as I don’t know it even exists outside of my view. The extra movement of my mouse pointer, concentration needed to follow lines of text, and cognitive burden can be exhausting. In that case, I must move my mouse pointer to the left, right, top, and bottom to explore the interface, read information, and mentally map how portions of content fit together as a page. How Am I Affected?Īs a user of magnification software, when a website doesn’t support reflow, I can’t perceive the left and right sides of the web page at one time. A website that has both vertical and horizontal scrollbars requires more effort and the larger the screen magnification, the more serious the problem. This is called content that ‘reflows.’ When content doesn’t reflow, it typically overflows the page, requiring an added scrollbar to become visible. Part of that is down to the magnification software itself, but part of it is how content flows on the website.Ĭontent should wrap onto new lines so that it always fits in the browser window. People using screen magnification software may experience problems when navigating a website. Although this success criterion is intended for many interfaces such as apps, I’ll focus here on websites as an example. Website authors can help meet the needs of people with low vision, with or without screen magnification software, by testing web content against WCAG Success Criterion Reflow 1.4.10. A magnified portion of the interface is shown through a floating lens. PS - there is no LUMI topic in the Topic dropdown box.A user interface with scrollbars showing that scrolling is required in both dimensions. It would be helpful also to have access to Navigate in the split screen view.Īnother feature that would help with the above is the option to move the divide of the split screen to give a little more space to one side or the other.Īny help with work arounds to solve my problem would be veyr much appreciated. ![]() It would be great to have some option to setup the reader so that the text of the pdf reads across the longer axis of the split page and the notes are 'below' them. I tried using the 2 and 3 columns options in Reflow to resize the rotated text but the 2 column option does not change the view (nor the one column) and the 3 column is almost perfect size but cuts off about 15% of the page at the side. ![]() ![]() However, in split screen mode, Navigate does not seem to be available so I can't do that.ģ. Instead of zoom I tried to use the Navigate options to help get the right size after I had rotated the text in Reflow. On Reflow, text can be turned but any attempt to zoom afterwards reset the orientation so that does not workĢ. However, no matter how I try I run into issues.ġ. I have tried to setup the split screen so that the text of the pdf is turned 90 degrees and fit it to the screen 'width'. However, if the text of the pdf is small then it is very hard to read when I split the screen for note taking. It's great and the split screen reader is a great feature.
